Handwoven Silk Dupatta with traditional Baluchari weave and design. Great combination of style, grace and comfort. Complements a wide range of ethnic as well as contemporary attire.
The most well-known silk saree of Bengal is the Baluchari, a product of exquisite design and fabulous weaving. Produced in the town of Baluchar (from where it gets its name) in the district of Murshidabad of West Bengal, Baluchari sarees are rich and sophisticated and have wonderful colour harmony with intricate designs that mostly depict stories from India’s ancient texts and epics.
It takes a lot of time and hard labour to weave a Baluchari on jacquard looms. After the silk thread is extracted from silkworm cocoons, they are processed and dyed in various colours. Then patterns are woven onto the silk, using various threads. It can take more than a week to weave a Baluchari saree.
