Vajrasattva literally means the ‘Diamond Being’ or ‘Thunderbolt Being’, and is a popular deity in Vajrayana/ Mahayana or Mantrayana. Vajrasattva practices are common to all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism and is used to both purify obscurations and also to purify broken samaya vows and therefore an essential and popular element of Tibetan Buddhism.
