Bankura’s terracotta is an internationally appreciated art form. Traditional terracotta artists used to inscribe the temple walls with this artwork. In this craft form, a blend of different types of clay found in river beds and pits is shaped into beautiful designs, and baked at high temperatures to give the material stiffness and stability.
